What's It Like to Be a Scout Mom?
"It is very rewarding, more than I ever thought it would be. One of the best decisions I've made in my life as a parent."
What do you like most about being a Scout mom?
"The joy and excitement that I see in my son when he is really enjoying what we are doing or learning. Mitchell has been in Cub Scouts going on 4 years now and he is developing into quite a fine young man. That makes me know that what I am doing is a wonderful job with him."
How has Scouting changed your relationship with your son?
"Well my son Mitchell and I have always been close but being his den leader for 3 years and now his Cubmaster, it has opened him up more emotionally. He tells me thank you all the time, and that he loves me just out of the blue. When the pack has had a great time in whatever we did he tells me, "Mom your the coolest". It has opened a whole different chapter in our lives that only a mother and son can share. It's an amazing feeling!"
What would you tell a mom asking for your advice about becoming a Scout mom?
"Being a scout mom is very rewarding. You learn together as you go through the years. It connects you and your son on a whole different level. It gives you a different kind of bond with your son. It is also very challenging but you do it together. It is an adventure."
